Nothing lasts forever

the silenced streets and empty bars

the spotlights shine on statued cars

the star-crossed lovers quarantine

their promises that should have been

this fragile life, was all we knew

shocked us all, it wasn’t true

we watched it quickly slip away

as if it never mattered anyway

so I look instead for peace of me

finding strength for when I’m free

to be better then and better now

to rebuild a better world, somehow

using broken bits to make fresh starts

and finding love for broken hearts

for now, we stand alone together

and remember nothing lasts forever.
