If I was a bird

If I was a bird

I would fly over my life

To look down at it all

From the sky I could see

The loves that were forever

The ones that are for now

I would witness

In the distance

The people I have lost

And on the hill

Where they have the clearest views

Those who will never leave

I would see so many places

Of adventure and beauty

And fear and despair

Some I called home

And just a few

That really were

I would fly down for a closer look

But life would keep getting smaller

Until my world was the point of a needle

And there was everything I ever wanted.
